History Of The Bcs Championship Bowl Game

History Of The Bcs Championship Bowl Game

If you are a college football fanatic you probably already know how this came to be. You were probably watching the first games that led up to the creation. For you it was a history making event that you didn’t want to miss. For everyone else that doesn’t know the history of the bcs championship bowl game there are a few things that brought the bowl game into existence.

The very first bowl championship series was played in 1998 at the end of the college football season. People were clamoring for a way to crown one team as the very best out of all others for the year. If it could be done on the professional level why couldn’t it be done on the college level as well? Each team wanted bragging rights to be the best. The only problem was that unlike with professional football you have just a fraction of teams and your players will constantly change up as some graduate or accept the draft. One team that won last year might not have any returning senior players.

Prior to the game in 1998 there were some attempts at a national game however, the big ten teams didn’t participate, so in actuality it wasn’t a true championship game. All of the various bowls that are out now were rotated to change up the final location of the championship bowl game. There were four actual bowls which rotated each year. They were the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Sugar Bowl. Other additional bowls are provided to other teams that aren’t in the playoffs for the championship title. People still want to be able to see a final game or ranking for their favorite college team. This was an appeasement for those that wouldn’t make the final cut. This is something akin to a regional championship in the professional league.

Now that this system has been implemented a lot of colleges and fans are complaining about how the teams are chosen for the top spots. Unfortunately it isn’t decided upon how a team performs or plays on the field but by polls and computer rankings. Many feel that it provides an unfair advantage to the bigger schools which have larger endowments and more funding to acquire better players. The USA Today newspaper comprises the coaches’ poll. And former players, media and coaches get a say for the Harris Interactive Poll. Finally, an average of six computers provides rankings on the college football teams. This is an intricate design that was created for the championship bowl game.

As the season comes to a close each year in January, people root and cheer for their favorite teams. Everyone has an opinion on how it should be fixed or updated. As this is still a relatively new system in place it will take a long time to get updated. And it will not be scrapped for another system until enough people complain about it. But with that in mind it is not easy to set up and maintain a system that will be liked by everyone.

History of the NFL Super Bowl Game

History of the NFL Super Bowl Game

Prior to the merger, NFL and AFL leagues were two bitter rivals. There was a need to unit all fans and club sides from both leagues, hence the landmark agreement that cemented and brought about the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Sunday is that day of the year in which winners from both leagues (NFL and AFL) come together to determine who is the champion of the world. The winning team gets the Vince Lombardi Trophy –posthumously named after the coach of the Green Bay Packers that won the first two Super Bowl games. Vinci Lombardi died in September 1970.

The game, which is usually played once in a year has witnessed many date shifts; from first to mid Sunday in of the month of January, it later settled on the second Sunday and from which point it went off again to the third unto the last and later revised back to the first Sunday in the month of February.  Let us hope there is no further shift in date!!

Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt coined the name ”Super Bowl”. He got the idea from the toy Super Ball after watching his children playing with it. There were other suggestions like ”The Big one’’ and whatnot. The name Super Bowl was initially supposed to be a temporary name for the championship game.  The name Super Bowl has gained so much popularity in such a way that, it is now the official name of America’s de facto holiday.

NFL’s Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowl matches. The first and second Super Bowl Championship Games were not advantage with roman numerals until the third Super Bowl championship game(Super Bowl III), talking of which was won  by AFL’s New York Jets. Kansas City Chiefs subsequently won Super Bowl IV in New Orleans.

In the United States alone, the Super Bowl is the most-watch TV broadcast. The game has the highest rating in terms of viewership: watched by an average of 90 million Americans. The game has also recorded viewership as high as 200 million and above. Outside the United States about 140 million viewers tune up to watch the championship every super bowl Sunday.

Super Bowl Sunday halftime show has grown from mere matching parades by High School bands to a super show that commands the respect of the global entertainment industry. Thought the halftime show is only 30 minutes, it is no doubt, one of the important highlights of the championship game.  Various America and international top musicians have performed in halftime shows.

The Super Bowl is without any forms of controversies. A case in point was Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004, when Justin Timberlake exposed Janet Jackson’s right breast for the entire world to see in what appeared to be a mistake. Her nipple had a star-shaped ring around it. The incident prompted organizers to place a ban on MTV that forbids the media company from involving in another halftime show, in any capacity, in the future.

Rich Stephenson is in the web development field for a ticket broker that sells tickets to all sports, concert and theater events. Ticket broker also sells Super Bowl Tickets as well as Cheap Football Tickets for and all other football games.

Rose Bowl 2009 Score – Usc Trojans Beat Penn State at the 95th Rose Bowl Game

Rose Bowl 2009 Score – Usc Trojans Beat Penn State at the 95th Rose Bowl Game

This was a record winning, as it is the most won Rose Bowl result by any team in the country. The team was headed by head coach Pete Carroll with Penn State Nittany Lions being headed by their head coach Jow Paterno. This was Carroll’s fifth appearance in the Rose Bowl Game, with Coach Paterno making his second appearance.

This year was the 95th Edition of “The Grand Daddy of Them All” as being the oldest bowl game. The payout amount is ,000,000 per team every year, and this year the annual event was attended by 93,293 spectators at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. The game is actually played as the college football classic, and was sponsored by Citi, making this their sixth year as presenting sponsor of the Rose Bowl Game. The game gave Penn State a third appearance in the Rose Bowl Game with their last game in 1995 when it defeated Oregon by 38-20. Earlier on, they were defeated by USC in 1923 by 14-3. USC Trojans made their 33rd appearance in the Rose Bowl Game, and their fourth consecutive, beating Illionois by 49-17 last year.

Penn State and USC met for the ninth time in history, and the second time to face each other in the Rose Bowl Game. The game was over by halftime, with USC at 31 and Penn State at 7, which was a real shock, as Penn State was expected to at least put up a fight. The first round of the game was however thrilling, with both teams putting up a great fight and ending the round for 7-7. Damian Williams and Mark Sanchez did everything possible to elevate the NFL draft status in the first round, bringing excitement to the start of the game.

The second round was the turning point for the Trojans, when they won it by 24-0 and put Nittany Lions to bed. This quarter lasted much longer for thousands of Nittany Lion fans in the stadium, and millions other watching the game live on TV and radio. Mush more was expected from the Nittany Lions, but USC put a real tough game. USC quarterback Mack Sanchez completed seven consecutive passes for 132 yards at one point in the second quarter. Mark played a really good football game, providing victory to USC.

The third quarter saw little excitement with no team scoring anything. The third quarter gave the Trojans some chance to come back in the game, with a Penn State scoring 17 and USC at 7. They did give some excitement to their fans, and earned back the respect which they had lost in the second round by putting up a poor game. The game proved that USC is better, and have more talent that the Nittany Lions. In fact, they played so well that they forced Penn State into mistakes, giving them a leading victory of 38-24.

How To Play Bowling Game – Yes Bowling

How To Play Bowling Game – Yes Bowling

Bowling is a hobby in which players attempt to score points by rolling a bowling ball along a flat surface, usually a wooden or synthetic surface, either into objects called pins or to get close to a target ball. Both coordination and athletic ability are crucial to bowling. For most beginners, it is normal to find it difficult to roll a bowling ball down the lane without falling into the gutter and hit the right spot. If you want to know how to play bowling game, then here are just some tips.

Number one: Always assume the correct posture, and grip the ball properly. Keep your head up and look straight at your target. Maintain your shoulders square to the foul line, especially through the swing. As for the proper grip, make sure that the thumbhole is loosely fitted to your thumb if you’re using a house ball. Number two: Focus on your target. Look at the pins and not the ball. You should always keep an eye on the pins when rolling the ball.

Number three: Roll the ball, don’t throw it. The bowling ball should be rolled along the lane, not thrown away like it’s some kind of stone. In order to know if you are doing it improperly, you should watch out for that typical “clonk” sound that all beginners get when they are just starting.

Number four: Relax. Don’t try to over lift or turn the bowling ball during the release. It will only cause muscling and misdirection of your arm swing. Instead just relax your thumb and come cleanly through the ball as you release it and follow through

Number five: Develop your own bowling style. There is no set way that bowlers bowl. Do what feels relaxing and the most natural to you. Developing your own bowling style will improve your game and scores. In fact, having your own style is the best way on how to play bowling game.

2010 Rose Bowl Game – Ohio State vs. Oregon – Who is your pick?

2010 Rose Bowl Game – Ohio State vs. Oregon – Who is your pick?

Across the country followers of college football are getting ready for the BCS 2010 Rose Bowl Game. This year, the Ohio State Buckeyes (surprise, surprise) take on the Oregon Ducks in what is sure to be one of the most jam packed stadiums across the country. The Rose Bowl stadium is in Pasadena, California and it can hold a mighty lot of fans. There is already much speculation about who will come out on top, and no doubt fortunes will be made and lost, wagered on the score of this game.

College football fanatics are hoping that this game lives up to the hype, and it will have to compete with Alabama’s trampling of Tim Tebow (wah wah) and his Gator’s. Seeing Tim Tebow crying was one of those rare satisfactions. However, many expect the 2010 Rose Bowl to be a game of solid football.

Ohio State has the although a bit banged up, very dangerous Terrelle Pryor to use on offense. However, Oregon also has LaMichael James, one of the fastest backs in the league. It will probably be Oregon’s priority to try and out run Ohio State, but both teams have their work cut out for them. It’s the last game, they need to give it all or nothing or not show up at all. Ohio State must keep Oregon’s deadly returns in check and be sure not to let up any stupid touchdowns.

Who do you think will win the 2010 Rose Bowl Game? We’re looking to hear from you.. and you may even get a free NCAA jersey out of it. Every opinion counts. Who will win the 2010 rose bowl: Ohio State Buckeyes or the Oregon Ducks? Click here to vote now. Takes less than ten seconds.

College Football – Why Bowl Games Are Such a Big Deal – They Bring Prestige and $139 Million

College Football – Why Bowl Games Are Such a Big Deal – They Bring Prestige and 9 Million

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

If you are not a college football fan and could care less if you never see a bowl game in your life, you might wonder what all of the fuss is about. If you have a red-blooded male in your life, just ask him.

There will be 34 NCAA bowl games this year and the fuss in each one will be about prestige and money, big money, as in more than a collective 9 million for the participating teams and their respective conferences.

The actual bowl payouts reflected below add up to 7+ million, but the actual 9+ million figure arises because of some additional payouts for participating teams beyond the automatic qualifiers from the 6 major BCS conferences—the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pacific-10 and Southeastern.

A team must win 6 games to be bowl-eligible, according to NCAA standards. Some of the qualifying teams automatically receive bowl bids, and others are asked to participate in the less significant bowl games.

Just about every news organization that publishes the bowl-game lineups does so by the date of the contest, the first (on December 19th) to the last (the Bowl Championship Series title game on January 7th).

I choose to do it this year by the importance of the bowl based on its payout first, and then the prominence of the game based on its participants. The first 5 bowl games listed comprise the prestigious BCS super-contests with the biggest payouts.

Here is the complete lineup for the 2009 season (which stretches into 2010).
